Michigan Renewable Fuels Commission was established under Public Act 272 of 2006. The Commission is tasked with developing recommended policies and strategies to promote research, development, production and distribution of alternative fuels in Michigan. The Commission was recently transferred from the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) to the Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth (DELEG), under Executive Order 2008-20.
